April 1, 2012: Prancing Numbers | March 31 | April 2 | 2011 | FOTD Home |
Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:
Today's
unspectacular image lies in the parent fractal that results when Z^4 is
subtracted from 0.1 part of Z^(-0.2) and straight C is added on each
iteration. This parent is basically the Z^4 Mandeloid rotated
180
degrees, with obvious distortions in its buds and the valley on the
negative X-axis broadened into a wedge. Today's scene is
located
in this wedge.
The name "Prancing Numbers" can mean anything the viewer
wishes.
To me it is a vague reference to the creative antics of complex numbers
when repeatedly iterated.
The rating of a 6 indicates that in my opinion the image is average,
worth a look but nothing that has not often been seen before.
The calculation time of one minute is perhaps a little more than the
image is worth. This is where the FOTD web sites dash to the
rescue.
Clouds ruled here at Fractal Central today, with the few brief
intervals of sunshine too few and far between to change the impression
of a cloudy day. Light rain that set in by 5pm just made
things
worse. The temperature of 55F 13C was just about average, at
least in the opinion of the fractal cats, who grew frustrated early
with the lack of sun, and decided to see if they could wheedle an extra
treat from the submissive humans.
The humans began the day watching the Sunday morning TV news comments
about the world's problems. At first we took the
commentators'
opinions half seriously, but when the topic turned once again to race
relations and the need for a serious discussion about the problem, we
simply smiled and shook our heads, wondering why one more 'serious
discussion' could be expected to succeed when a hundred earlier ones
have achieved nothing.
The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take
care,
and both FL and I have hoodies in the closet. Our frustration
is
due to the apparent inability of society to discuss the entire racial
situation openly and honestly.
