elephants amok

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Feeling merciful, I decided to rescue one of the several elephant images that were due to be posted as the FOTD's for April 16, 17 and 18, but never made it because of a health bug that we picked up here at FC.

The name "Elephants Amok" fairly describes the scene, which lies in the East Valley area of the Z^2+C Julibrot, at an angle double rotated 0.2,0.2 degrees from the true Julia orientation.

At this weird angle, there is no relation between the elephants and the remains of the Mandelbrot buds.  The elephants have gone totally amok, which explains the name "Elephants Amok".  Instead of standing guard over their appointed buds, they are running madly about, devastating everything in their path.

For some strange reason, the ghost bud on the left is being crushed by a horde of baby elephants.  Maybe they think the bud is their mother.  The rest of the elephants are wandering aimlessly about, apparently in a state of four-dimensional confusion.

But confused elephants are still elephants, and elephants are so common that I could give the image no rating.

The time required to see the elephant disaster is a brief 1-3/4 minutes.  The finished image may also be seen on the web sites.

Heavy clouds, occasional periods of light rain and a few wet snowflakes made today a day to be forgotten here at Fractal Central.  The temperature of 43F +6C felt more like December than April, causing the fractal cats to wonder where the heat was.

The humans, FL and I, had a typically average day.  Our main task was simply getting through the time between the day's start and its end.  The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take care, and pay no attention to those rumors that the FOTD's are becoming potboilers.
