Today's image is a scene in the chaos on the eastern edge of the northern branch of Seahorse Valley of a Mandelbrot set that has been corrupted in its depths by Z^12 energies.  At the depth of over 5*(10^11) the Z^12 energies have completely taken over.  The minibrot at the center, with its 11 lobes, consists totally of exponent-12 stuff, as the series of 12 elements around the minibrot confirms.  Quadratic energies still fill the scene however.  The outer pattern is totally quadratic, with curled seahorse tails everywhere.

The name "Holiday Ribbons" came about when I thought I saw some broken ribbons in the scene.  The math rating of a 6 shows that the math aspect is all old stuff.  The art rating of a 7 does not quite justify the 6-1/3 minutes required to calculate the image.  But visiting the web sites will restore justice.

The day began with an inch, (2.5cm in the rest of the world), of snow falling on Fractal Central.  The snow ended by 9am, leading to a cloudy day with only a few light flurries and a temperature of 34F +1C.  The fractal cats, after spending Christmas evening playing with and eventually shredding the wrapping paper from the gifts, were still exhausted today, and slept most of the time, recovering their energy.  The same was true of the fractal people.

The next FOTD will be posted in a day or so.  Until whenever, take care, and I hear so often about how we have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas, but I hear so little agreement about exactly what that true meaning might be.
