Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Since I have no idea what's happening in today's image, I'll not try to analyze it to find out what's going on.  All I know about it is that the parent fractal is a Mandelbrot set with a lot of extra stuff along the shorelines of the bays and buds.  Today's image lies in the extra stuff that clogs the Seahorse Valley area of the parent.  The bud in the image is like none I have seen anywhere.

One thing certain is that the image lies in the Hypercomplex Mandelbrot set, though I have no idea why the ridiculously tiny real(p4) parameter makes such a difference.  The image might be an artifact of imprecision, but even if this is so, it has all the attributes of a 'real' fractal, (whatever a real fractal might be).

The rating of a ? expresses my confusion about such images.  Also, the artistic worth is lacking, and I did not want to give an embarrassingly low rating.

The name "In the New World" does not refer to the era of exploration.  It indicates that the image exists in an entirely new world of fractals, a world that, BTW, is in need of quite a bit of exploration.

The calculation time of 7-1/2 minutes is a bit expensive for the result.  The slowness is necessary because periodicity must be turned off when the HyperMandelbrot2 formula is used.  A better time bargain may be found on the active FOTD web site at:

http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/jim_muths_fotd.html

where the finished image is or soon will be posted.

The original FOTD web site at:

http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/

is not up to date.

Monday here at Fractal Central began with a temperature of 14F -10C, and reached an afternoon high of 34F +1C.  The fractal cats enjoyed the sun that filtered through the high clouds.  My day was kept busy trying to explain the Boltzmann brain problem to FL.  (In fact, I'm still trying to explain it to myself.)  If all goes well, the next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take care, and when I grow up, I'm going to be a Boltzmann brain.
