Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Everyone knows that the air conditioning always breaks down on the hottest day of the year.  It's an evil plot.  Well, that's what happened here at F.C. on Wednesday, which was actually only the second hottest day.

But the breakdown meant that the computers could be run only for a half hour or so before they overheated, and this cut into my fractal time.  But, being resourceful, I still managed to find a fractal in cold storage, which I present as today's image.

The name "Back-up Special" indicates that I had today's image in storage in case of just such an emergency as arose here at FC on Wednesday.

The image has no rating and it runs in a fast 36 seconds.  The parent fractal was created by combining 2 parts of Z^2 with 0.1 part of Z^10 and adding straight C on every iteration.  Today's scene is located near a cut-off satellite minibrot of the near-shapeless main fractal.

The heat remained in full force here at Fractal Central on Wednesday as the temperature reached 102F 39C.  The increased humidity simply added to the discomfort.  The fractal cats were so warm that they had to be scraped from the cool tile floor.

With the cool air on the bust, my day was hot.  Luckily, the work was not too heavy, letting us run the computers in short bursts to avoid overheating.  If all goes well, which is never guaranteed, the cool air will be running and the next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take care, and when the heat strikes, take a cold shower.
