Today's image shows some of the craziness that can erupt in an oversized Mandelbrot set corrupted in its depths by Z^(4.5) energies.  The central minibrot is clearly of order 4.5, while the orangish disk surrounding it holds 9 lobes.

The image is located in the half-morphed East Valley of a small minibrot on the main stem of the oversized parent M-set; the art and math ratings are both an average 6.

The image is notable for its lack of obvious discontinuities.  One discontinuity does extend northeast from the minibrot, but vanishes by the time it reaches the edge of the sandy orangish area.

The name "Sandy Hectares" is a spin-off of 'Sandy Acres'.  A hectare, as most of the world knows, is a measure of area in the metric system.  It is equal to about 2-1/2 U.S. acres.

The calculation time of 1-1/4 minutes is reasonably fast.  Viewing the image on the web sites is not much faster, but it certainly is more convenient.

Today brought partly cloudy skies, high humidity and a temperature of 90F 32C to Fractal Central.  The fractal cat's activities were stifled by the heat early in the morning, leaving him with nothing to do but sleep.  The humans made it through the day unstifled.

The next FOTD will be posted in a couple days.  Until then, take care, and if at first you don't succeed, try and try again.  Then give up.  Don't waste energy trying to succeed at a hopeless task.
