at the wrong angle

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:  

Today's scene shows a minibrot in an oversized parent Mandelbrot set that has been corrupted in its depths by Z^9 energies.  The location is in the center of the north branch of Seahorse Valley of the large minibrot on the main spike of the parent M-set.

But no minibrot lies at the center of the frame.  What we see there is a stretched-out slit with almost nothing of a Mandelbrot or Julia nature about it.  The name of the image -- "At the Wrong Angle" -- explains the problem.  We are viewing the scene from the wrong angle.  We are viewing it from some monstrous unimaginable angle in the fourth dimension.

To bring the large-scale pattern to near perfection, the entire image has been stretched and skewed to the limit, yet except at the center, the stretching is hardly noticeable.

The image earns a rating of an 8 even though it did appear several years ago in a slightly modified form.

The parameter file runs in 4-1/3 minutes.  Hopefully, with such extreme stretching and skewing, it will run accurately on all machines.  (But it sometimes gives me trouble even on the machine that created it.)

The un-notable winter weather continued today here at Fractal Central, with cloudy skies, only a few breaks of sun, a few flurries of snow, a brisk north wind and a temperature of 36F +2C.  The mighty fractal cat, not quite as mighty as he once was, spent the day watching the world go by and plotting mischief.  The humans simply made it through the day.

I will post the next FOTD when the time comes.  Until whenever that might be, take care, and what's that! . . . the world did not end . . . what a disappointment!
