Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is named "A Turquoise Cousin".  The reason for the word 'turquoise' is obvious; the reason for 'cousin' is less apparent.  Actually, the minibrot at the center is not a pure quadratic, only a close cousin.

The parent fractal was created by the formula Z^(1.98)+C calculated 1.98 levels up the hyper-ladder, with no function applied.  This parent closely resembles a Mandelbrot set that has been rotated so that its main bud faces southeast, a position that puts its large south bud on the northeast side of the main bay.  Today's scene lies in a small blunt valley jutting into this bud.

The rating of an 8.5 includes a half point bonus for the cool coloring.  At least the colors look pretty cool to me, almost like a mint.  The calculation time of just over 1-1/2 minutes is very near FOTD average, and is a bargain for an image rating an 8.5.

Friday here at Fractal Central began with a light shower, followed by clouds and occasional sprinkles the rest of the day.  A brisk wind and temperature of 57F 14C made it feel quite chilly, especially after the summer-like warmth of the past several days.  The fractal cats remained well under control most all day, though Nicholas worried us a few times for an extra treat of cheese.  Saturday brought more sun, a temperature of 68F 20C and contented cats.

While all this was happening, the humans' days were acceptable.  The next FOTD is scheduled to be posted in 24 hours.  As always however, I make no guarantee that it will actually be ready on time.  Until whenever, take care, and how can we determine the secrets of the universe when we don't even know what we are or how we came to be here?
