Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

The art worth of today's image rates an 8, mostly because of my success at making 256 colors look more like 16-million.  And I admit that I rather enjoy the pastel shades.

The math rates only a 6, since there is little new in the math.  The image is an everyday scene deep in the intricate semi-chaos on the north side of East Valley of the parent fractal, which is little more than a distorted Mandelbrot set with an undersized main bud.

I chose the name "Starbrot" because the image reminds me of some kind of exotic starfish, though I have never seen an aquamarine colored starfish.  The calculation time of 4 minutes borders on slowness.  The way out of this dilemma is either to go into the next room while the image is calculating and mix a drink, or to check the finished image on the FOTD web sites at:

The mix of sun and clouds with a temperature of 37F +5C here at Fractal Central today would have been an improvement over yesterday had it not been for the higher winds, which made it just as unpleasant to be outdoors.  There was no wind indoors however, which made things near perfect for the fractal cats, who claimed their warm spots early and stayed there most of the day.  The fractal humans had their human tasks to get out of the way, such as paying bills the old-fashioned way by sending checks in the mail.

The next FOTD will be posted.  Enough said; no promise implied.  Until the posting actually happens, take care, and back in 2008 I heard a lot of talk from progressives about the man they claimed would save the country if elected.  Now, 6 years later, I wonder where both the salvation and the progressives are.
