Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:
There
was no FOTD
for October 23 because FL and I spent the day searching for a companion
for fractal cat Nicholas. We found a calico cat named Callie,
who
will be the next fractal cat when she gets her shots and if she gets
along with Nico.
For today's image I returned to the MandNewt series of formulas, number
10 to be exact. Amidst all the confusion I dredged up today's
scene, which despite the off-coloring, still reminds me of a nuclear
explosion. I named the image "Nuclear Newton".
The most notable feature of the image is the unusually smooth coloring
-- smooth, that is, by 256-color GIF standards. The
unexpected
smoothness earns the image a rating of an 8.
The calculation time of 1-2/3 minutes will pass in a flash.
With
the passes set to 'g' the image will finish even faster, but a few
minor bits of detail will be skipped over.
Today here at Fractal Central seemed more like a day in May than a day
in late October. The temperature of 75F 24C was mild enough
for
any outdoor activity, while the cloudless skies and light breezes made
things near perfect.
The fractal cat spent much of the time in the sun and the rest of the
time hoping for food. The humans made it through the day with
nothing to report. The next FOTD will be posted when it is
ready. Until whenever that might be, take care, and protest
ambiguity.
