island universe

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

If anyone is still checking the list, the fractals will continue coming, maybe not every day but often enough to make a quick check always worth the effort.

Today's image shows one of the more interesting minibrots I have yet found in a fractal with an exponent of Z between one and two.  The exponent of Z in today's image is 1.77, and the complex logatithmic hyperspiral was sliced 2 turns from ground zero in the positive direction.

The parent fractal resembles a distorted Mandelbrot set rotated so that the large bud faces southeast, with the nascent East Valley on the northwest side of the main bay.  Today's image with its central minibrot lies on the northeast shore line of this rudimentary valley.

I named the image "Island Universe" because the central minibrot, like all minibrots, contains an infinity of detail within its basin of attraction.

The art aspect rates a 7 since I could have done more work on the coloring.  The math rates an 8 because of the unusual richness of the scene with its shoestrings around the minibrot.

The image calculates in 3 minutes -- about average for an everyday fractal.  The image may also be enjoyed on the FOTD web sites.

A mix of sun and clouds with a temperature of 86F 30C made today an enjoyable one here at Fractal Central.  The trio of fractal cats agreed.  The 11-year-old cat Nicholas slept while the one-year-old kitten Jasmine and the four-and-one-half-month-old kitten Lida Rose kept each other busy playing.

The next FOTD will be posted in a day or so.  Until whenever, take care, and when one side says 'We will stop bombing you when you stop terrorizing us' and the other side says 'We will stop terrorizing you when you stop bombing us', nothing gets done.
