B-E-M

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image came about when I applied a very small (0.00001 degree) but complex 4-way rotation to the previous FOTD image, which was posted December 27.  The slightly different angle changes the previous nice symmetrical image into a B.E.M. or Bug-Eyed Monster of the kind that once populated the pages of the pulp sci-fi magazines.

It's not a very frightening monster however, and the math trick that created it is quite old, so I could rate the art and math aspects of the scene no higher than an everyday 5.  But even a 5 is worth a quick check, and the image calculates in a reasonably fast 2 minutes, so why not boot up Fractint or visit the web sites and see the monster.  It might be good for a laugh.

The weather here at Fractal Central today left a lot to be desired.  The steady cold rain that fell all day put a total damper on any outside plans, while the temperature of 39F +4C kept all thoughts of snow at bay.  The fractal cats had a slow day also.  Jasmine wanted to play, but Nico was in a bad mood and shouted her off when she tried to start a tussle.  The human mood was only a little better.

The next FOTD will be posted in a day or maybe two.  The only way to be sure when is to keep checking back.  Until whenever the fractal spirit strikes, take care, and now that science (whatever it might be) is proving scientifically that science is based on a grand illusion, where does this leave us when we want to know what to consider reality?
